Job Summary
Assists the Maintenance Manager in the coordination and execution of daily maintenance tasks.
Essential Functions
This list is not all encompassing and other duties may be assigned.
Enforces all Safety and GMP policies and conducts inspections as assigned.
Performs duties of Maintenance Mechanics or Electricians whenever required by workload or manning.
Trains and/or oversees the training of Maintenance personnel whether new or in cross-training.
Assigns work to maintenance crew per the department work list, balancing available labor with estimated man hour requirements.
Directs/assists workers in electrical, electronic, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic maintenance and repair of machinery and equipment.
Troubleshoots (analyzes and resolves problems), or assists workers in solving work problems.
Interprets specifications, blueprints, and job orders as needed.
Creates work orders and requests and requisitions parts for current and follow up work.
Issues stockroom supplies whenever the stockroom is not staffed.
Communicates to both Maintenance and Production personnel the status of tasks, breakdowns, estimated repair time and actions to be taken.
Audits the crews work order reports for accuracy and closes work orders when completed and reviewed.
Provides feedback on crew member performance to Maintenance Manager.
Makes recommendations to improve safety, improve labor efficiency, to increase equipment performance and efficiency or to improve production methods.
Adheres to and complies with all General Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s).
Job Qualifications
Required
Education and/or Experience
High School graduate or GED equivalent.
Previous experience as a mechanic in an industrial environment is required.
Have or be able to obtain forklift license.
Computer Skills
Must be able to use Microsoft Office software on at least beginners level.
Capable of learning different software applications used for daily tasks.
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rule, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide to calculate proportions, area, circumference, ratios and volume.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
Ability to deal with problems with several concrete variables in a standardized situation.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job, including lifting 50 pound weights above their heads without assistance, climbing stairs and ladders, walk, bend down and crawl.
