Qualifications and Experience: A-level (High School Diploma) + 2 years at least of Higher Education in a technical discipline or HSE2 specialization with one-year experience in this field.
Environmental Experience preferred Professional abilities: Autonomy, organizational and coordination abilities, and interpersonal and coaching skills.
Ability to establish and manage a budget.
Oral and written competencies; ability to communicate succinctly the HSEE standpoint.
Computer skills (MS Office, AKWEL Portal and HSEE related portals, such as Red On Line).
Proficiency in English Technical knowledge: QSE2 management system standards: specially ISO 14001, ISO 45 001, ISO 50 001, ISO 27 001 and also IATF 16949.
Legal and regulatory requirements applicable to facilities, networks, machines, equipment and operating procedures in effect on the site.
Fair command of local legislation.
Technical skills to analyse and understand all technical information.
Risk assessment.
8D problem solving and QRQC approach.
QSE2 audit supports, especially those for Layered Process Audits (LPA).
AKWEL QSE² management system mainly focused on MAN02, CLI02, CLI03 and CLI05, including AKWEL Manufacturing System.
The HSE2 engineer verifies compliance with Occupational Health and Safety (security of People, security of facilities), Environment and Energy regulations, promotes and verify that actions are in place aiming at preventing associated risks, and is responsible for providing counsel to the staff concerned: Assist and provide advice and guidance to the Plant General Manager and the other managers in the implementation of corrective and preventive actions in all occupational health and safety, security, environment and energy matters.
Conduct the watch of occupational health and safety, environment and energy regulatory requirements.
Perform the impact analysis on health and safety, environment and energy newly released regulations concerning his/her entity.
Verify the consistency and efficiency of risk assessment with specific focus on Occupational Health and Safety, Security, Environment and Energy activities, particularly considering work environment, work instructions, ergonomics, and selection, testing, storage, maintenance of personal protective equipment, including sub-contractors.
A special mention is to be made as regards with chemical and other dangerous products that might be needed by operations.
Verify implementation, efficiency, effectiveness and follow up Occupational Health and Safety, Security, Environment and Energy improvement plans, including corrective and preventive actions, to achieve objectives.
Collect and analyze Occupational Health and Safety, Environment and Energy data.
Perform periodical QSE² audits, with focus on LPA audits (H&S, Security, Environment, Energy).
Validate safety and environment compliance of new products (including chemicals) and process, machines and tools, prior to their implementation.
Organize waste collection and treatment in accordance with environmental regulations.
Advise, support and participate on emergency preparedness and response activities.
Conduct and support training programs and awareness initiatives to promote Health, Safety, Environment and Energy good practices.
Attend, as an expert, the local HSE2 meeting held with the H&S representative and support consultation and participation of workers.
Must apply all QSE²MS procedures and operating instructions within the framework of operations linked to his/her job and the rules defined by the Group.
Has the duty to stop work and alert the PGM (or the Product Line Director) and the QSE² Manager in the event of Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental and Energy risks.
He/she has to alert also in the event of failure in the application of the QSE² management system that could lead to either group certification risks or to significant impacts on Health, Safety, Environment and Energy.
Agrees to act in accordance with the AKWEL ethical rules (ethics charter) and Code Against Corruption and Influence Peddling.
Has a duty to preserve secrecy and confidentiality with respect to all the systems and data to which he/she can be granted access, within the normal framework of his/her function.
2 - INTERNAL AND/OR EXTERNAL RELATIONS Collaborates internally with all site departments as well as with Health and Safety Representative.
Collaborates externally and under the supervision of the Plant General Manager and the QSE2 manager, with all the necessary local authorities.
3 - ACCREDITATION Has the authority over any person working within the assigned plant, to ensure the safety (people and tools) and environmental compliance.
In this respect, she/he has the authority to prohibit or to stop, in conjunction with the Plant General Manager, any operations or works raising potential risks.
May perform QSE2 MS internal audits in compliance with the accreditation rules and under the guidance of DQSE2 functional department.
Is authorized to collect and process the personal data necessary for the execution of its mission.
This will be a fully in person and on site position located in Northern Michigan.
Manufacturing hours will sometimes require flexibility for the HSE relative to production and projects.
