federal, state, local or tribal government Position Summary: Under the supervision of the Central Plant Supervisor, repair, install, and maintain the electrical utility infrastructure and related equipment for Soaring Eagle Casino and Resort.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Maintain and repair the electrical distribution systems and equipment such as transformers, switch gear, distribution panels and transfer switches.
Maintain and repair the emergency electrical distribution systems and equipment such as emergency generators, emergency lighting and exit lights.
Maintain and repair low voltage systems such as lighting ballasts, switches, and receptacle replacement, cord repairs and breaker replacement.
Investigate power quality issues on equipment and distribution systems including correcting tripped circuit breakers and harmonic issues using diagnostic equipment such as oscilloscope and power quality meter.
Review wiring schematics, equipment manuals and blueprints as needed to complete repairs and equipment installations.
Develop a knowledge of the emergency power distribution system including generator, UPS and transfer switch operations for each building; remain knowledgeable about what systems and equipment are on emergency power and emergency start up procedures.
Perform work requiring a thorough knowledge of electrical theory and principles, statutory codes, properties of material and principle of operation of electrical equipment.
Start up and shut down equipment in accordance with SECR facilities safety procedures for equipment activation and shut down consistent with OSHA requirements including Lockout and Tagout, Arc Flash protection and related use of safety gear.
Work closely with the Slots department with machine installations and changes to floor layout regarding circuit layout and routing of electrical power.
Evaluate requests for additions or expansions of the electrical distribution for new and replacement equipment.
Assist with the inventory control of repair components including maintaining stock levels and evaluating inventory items based on factors such as level of critical equipment, frequency of repair, and order time of replacement inventory.
Assist the Master Electrician in the development of the Electrical Apprentice associates knowledge and skill level.
Notify supervisor of potentially dangerous electrical equipment noted and corrective action taken.
Practice SECR Hospitality Rules with every internal and external guest.
Provide excellent customer service for all internal and external customers of the operations at all times.
Provide solutions for customer concerns and continually focus on customer service as our top priority.
Must maintain strict confidentiality and present a positive, professional demeanor and image at all times.

Contacts/Purpose of Contacts: Contact with requesting departments about problems with electrical equipment and new equipment installation reviews.
Works with all Facility divisions as needed to resolve problems with equipment and electrical systems as defined in the essential job duties.
Contact daily with Central Plant Supervisor to discuss assigned work, related solutions and what other additional resources may be needed to complete repair.
Contact with vendors, suppliers, and engineers as needed to discuss repair and design of equipment as defined in the essential job duties.
Contact with Electrical Apprentice to provide knowledge and training to support the apprentice program.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of a commercial electrical distribution system.
Knowledge of the methods and practices used in electrical work.
Knowledge of electrical systems including planning additions or modification on secondary circuits.
Knowledge of occupational hazards and applicable safety practices.
Knowledge of the make-up, operation and installation of a variety of electrical systems, circuits, equipment, and controls.
Knowledge of the national and state electric codes.
Knowledge of various gauge, sizes, and types of wire, conduit, couplings, fittings, relays boxes, circuit breakers and other electrical devices.
Knowledge of the use of a wide variety of test equipment and hand tools such as wire-cutters, strippers, drills, soldering irons, test meters, test lamps, voltmeters, ammeters, watt meters and ohmmeters.
Skill in the safe operation of power tools and shop equipment.
Ability to arrange, install and ensure safe operation of systems, circuits or equipment.
Ability to carry out instructions furnished in verbal or written format.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Ability to technically analyze problems and recommend or apply appropriate corrective action measures.
Ability to install, alter, and maintain electrical systems, to locate and correct electrical malfunctions.
Ability to prepare records and reports.
Ability to supervise and instruct unskilled workers.
Ability to interpret electrical schematics, one-line diagrams and blueprints.
Ability to be able to operate basic electrical diagnostic tools such as a multimeter, circuit tester and power quality analyzer.
Physical Demands: Frequent use of hands, wrists, fingers associated with use of tools.
Required to stand and walk for extended periods of time and reach with arms and hands.
Frequently sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
Normal visual acuity, ability to talk and hear.
Frequent bending, lifting, stooping and reaching.
Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Work Environment: Must be able to complete tasks under the following physical work environments: Dirt and dust from project work areas; wet and damp areas; cramped and close work areas; frequent walking throughout Casino and Resort; and working around operating equipment with mechanical, electrical, pneumatic or hydraulic hazards requiring usage of safe work practices.
Must possess sufficient stamina to work under all types of weather conditions including extreme hot/cold and to lift, carry, push, or pull a variety of tools, equipment and materials.
Work can be in confined, awkward or cramped spaces.
Work in extreme temperatures in boiler rooms, rooftop work areas, and high voltage.
Conditions exist where there is a danger to life, body, and/or health.
Frequent work on ladders and in confined locations.
Extended hours and irregular shifts may be required.
Evening, overnight, holiday and/or weekend work may be required.
Travel may be required.
Frequent walking and standing in a smoking environment and contact with the general public.
Constant visual stimulation via neon lights on slot machines, repeatedly changing machine video screens, static or flashing signs throughout the casino and constant machine and crowd noise.
Job Requirements Job Requirements: High School Diploma or GED.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must be a Journeyman Electrician.
Six years of experience working as an Electrician or completion of a formal electrical apprentice program.
Must be able to interpret electrical schematics, one-line diagrams and blueprints, and be able to operate basic electrical diagnostic tools.
Must be able to pass background check to meet the employment eligibility requirements as they pertain to the position.
Incumbents at or above the income threshold as determined by the National Indian Gaming Commission will be required to obtain and maintain a gaming license while in this position as part of their job responsibilities.
Individuals who do not have the ability to obtain or maintain a gaming license will not be able to continue.
License, Certification, or Special Requirements: Must possess and maintain a State of Michigan Journeyman Electrician license.
Must have a valid State of Michigan Driver`s License, with the proper designation required for the vehicle utilized to perform the job duties, and qualify for coverage by SCIT auto liability insurance carrier.
A Tribal Driver`s License will also be required if a Motor Pool Vehicle is used in the course and scope of the required job duties.
Native American preference shall apply to all positions.
