Position Overview
Join us in the summer of 2024 and help us continue the legacy of fostering creativity, nurturing talent, and celebrating the individual artistic journey at Interlochen.
We are seeking a quick-thinking and team-oriented Assistant Technical Director who embodies our core values and is committed to nurturing young artists.
As an Assistant Technical Director, you’ll play a major role in overseeing the build process for 2 productions, running the assigned shop along with 1 carpenter, and attending all tech rehearsals for the 2 productions.
What You Get To Do
Assist in the management of construction, finish, installation, and strike of scenery for High School theatrical productions
Supervise the crew, build and care of scenery, rigging, tool maintenance, etc.
Provide facility support, technical coordination and strategic planning advice for High School theatre productions
Provide facility support for the Junior/Intermediate theatre productions shows
Assist with dance and guest artist productions as needed

What You Need
Availability 5/29/24 - 8/7/24
Prepared to live in a dorm or nature cabin setting.
Significant relevant experience required
Undergraduate/graduate college students studying theatre arts design & production preferred
Valid driver’s license is required
Position requires someone who is self-motivated and able to work well in a collaborative environment
Must be able to lift heavy objects
Extensive knowledge of, and experience, in theatrical construction practices, methodologies, and supervision
