Bernard Building Center employs approximately 70 team members.
The majority of our staff are highly skilled in the building trades.
Many held previous careers in Contracting or Construction before joining our team.
We hold to a high standard in choosing team members who are knowledgeable in our field.

*As a Yard Foreman, you will oversee and direct the activities of yard personnel.
*
· *Safety* - For the protection of our staff members, customers and suppliers, you will ensure proper safety procedures are adhered to in the Lumberyard at all times.
This includes, but is not limited to, product intake, loading and unloading, and operation of all vehicles, machinery, equipment and hand tools.
· *Service *– You will maintain the Lumberyard where customers, suppliers and fellow staff members are addressed respectfully and provided with excellent service.
You will ensure that all vehicles are treated with care and leave our Yard undamaged by staff loading or unloading product.
· *Education – *You will provide on-the-job training to new staff members, and assist with ongoing education as needed to maintain a staff operating at peak potential.
· *Leadership by Example *– You will perform the same tasks as other yard workers, engaging in proper safety procedures at all times.
In this dynamic role, you may be assigned additional tasks at any time based on the needs of the organization.
*Working Conditions*
Your work will be performed primarily in an outdoor yard environment, subject to variations in weather, temperature, equipment noise and dust.
You must be able to lift and carry up to 25 lbs frequently and occasionally up to 80 lbs.
You may be required to perform tasks that involve climbing, lifting, pushing or kneeling.
*This is a Full-Time Position.

Managerial and/or Retail Experience, particularly in a Home Center, Lumberyard or Hardware Store setting
Experience in Building or Construction Industries
Knowledge of Michigan Building Code and OSHA Laws
Forklift Certification
CDL-A or willing to obtain CDL-A
