8x12 Tiny House / Studio - Reclaimed Materials: Briefly as one looks at it, it is a building that measures a little over 8’ wide and a bit over 12’ long and roughly 11’ tall sitting on 4x6 skids, making it easily transported down the road and ready to set on your location of choosing.
The build was one out of intrinsic desire to create a dwelling that a human can use to work, exercise and live in and ultimately create their art in whatever form that happens to be.
I have come to call it “Foxtrot 208” as I have found the number 208 stamped onto multiple pieces of redwood I’ve used on this build.
A description of the materials and the build… Sitting on pressure treated 4”x6” skids, 2x6 pressure treated floor joist were installed using Simpson strong tie connectors and appropriate fasteners.
On those joist, galvanized wire mesh rodent barrier was installed to keep the critters at bay.
On top of that 3/4” pressure treated plywood was set down and then covered with a cold floor system using 2” 250 psi rigid foam board and SPF lumber.
This is the foundation, as boring as it is, it makes for a good base that speaks of longevity.
