Job Summary
Provides health care services, applying x-ray energy to assist in diagnosis.
Performs medical imaging techniques and related procedures to demonstrate breast anatomy for interpretation and/or intervention by, or at the request of a licensed practitioner.
Assists licensed practitioners with invasive wire localization and/or biopsy procedures.
Applies appropriate patient care and recognizes patient conditions essential for successful completion of the procedure.
Essential Functions
Performs routine screening, diagnostic and mammography exams and procedures by properly positioning patients and scanning areas for interpretation as directed by a licensed practitioner.
Completes proper patient identification and order verification.
Prepares patients for procedures, providing instructions to obtain desired results, gain cooperation, and minimize anxiety.
Assists radiologists with invasive wire localizations of the breast.
Performs special procedures including core biopsy of the breast as determined by additional training.
Provides mammography services on the mobile unit as determined by qualifications and assignment.
Maintains imaging equipment by performing scheduled tests and cleanings and documenting all results.
Contacts service personnel and notifies management of malfunctioning equipment.
Records and maintains all records pertaining to mammography, including exam data entry, logs, and documented proof of diagnosis from surgical biopsies.
Maintains patient information in picture archiving and communication systems (PACS) and in other computerized medical records systems to ensure accurate patient records.
Performs all QA in accordance with manufacturing guidelines and MQSA regulations.
Qualifications
Required Associate's Degree or equivalent years of experience in related field
Preferred Bachelor's Degree
2 years of relevant experience mammography required
CRT-Radiographer (R) - ARRT upon hire required And
CRT-Mammography (M) - ARRT upon hire required
CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA or ARC within 90 days required
