Deadline: June 3, 2024 District/Organization: JKL Bahweting Anishnabe PSA Position/Type: Teacher, full time Salary: $40,392-70,163 Position Details JOB TITLE: Teacher CLASSIFICATION: Full time, school-year, exempt SUPERVISES: None REPORTS TO : Principal/Director of Curriculum and Instruction, State and Federal Programs POSITION SUMMARY: Provide instruction consistent with adopted school curriculum and policies to enhance student academic achievement and promote social, psychological, emotional and intellectual growth.
May provide diagnostic services, intervention, prevention, and self-concept reinforcement for individuals and small groups of children who are performing or are at risk of performing below grade level in core curriculum subjects.
Work cooperatively with Bahweting staff, parents, and the community to enhance the educational experiences and achievements of all enrolled students.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 1.
Provide instruction consistent with approved curriculum to assist all students, including special education and special needs students, in mastering standards and benchmarks.
2.
Set individualized instructional objectives for individual students or small groups of students to provide consistent instruction in mastering standards and benchmarks.
3.
Demonstrate professional skills in providing effective planning for instruction, implementing effective lesson designs, motivating students to achieve at appropriate grade level, and utilizing a variety of appropriate instructional techniques including technology and matrices.
4.
Develop and implement appropriate performance based assessments (portfolios, teacher constructed tests, rubric evaluations, pre/post assessments) to assess student mastery of subject matter.
5.
Provide preparation to class/individual students and administer State and national standardized tests.
6.
Demonstrate professional organizational skills by preparing and submitting clear, usable lesson plans, maintaining substitute plans and activities; and preparing and submitting progress reports, report cards, and completing CA-60 information within the appropriate time frames.
7.
Establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with peers, administrators, community members, non-teaching staff, students, and parents.
8.
Maintain valid certification for instructional area and provide evidence of on-going professional growth and development.
9.
Establish and maintain on-going communication with parents through timely notification of academic and/or behavior problems, provide information on student accomplishments and timely follow up with parent inquires and requests for meetings, and maintain respectful and courteous communications with parents under all circumstances.
10.
Comply with exceptional education programs by participating in Student Assistance Team meetings, IEP meetings, and implementing appropriate educational programs within the classroom.
11.
Maintain an organized and effective classroom environment.
The supervision, discipline, and control of students are to be maintained at all times.
Develop a classroom discipline policy as directed by the principal and monitor student behavior and compliance with the policy.
12.
Provide homework that is relevant to the learning objectives.
13.
Maintain accurate pupil accounting records and become familiar with the cumulative records of all students in classes.
14.
Develop and maintain an on going inventory of all texts, equipment, furniture, and supplies assigned to the classroom.
15.
Develop and maintain a textbook assignment roster each year and submits names of students who have lost or damaged textbooks by the end of the marking period, or school year.
16.
Respect and comply with all school policies and procedures.
17.
Refer attendance, health, and psychological/emotional problems to principal, nurse, and/or school social worker and comply with mandatory reporting requirements as required by law.
18.
Assist in the selection of textbooks, equipment, and other instructional supplies.
19.
Serve on School committees as requested or assigned.
20.
Maintain appropriate dress.
21.
Serve as a role model for students in how to conduct themselves as citizens and as responsible, intelligent, and respectful individuals.
Refrain from the use of any inappropriate language, gestures, or physical contact with students.
22.
Must hold and maintain current CPI certification in verbal de-escalation and physical restraint (training provided by the school district).
23.
Other related duties as assigned.

Responsible for appropriate and meaningful instruction to foster the academic growth and achievement of students 2.
Responsible for the safety and well being of all students assigned to classroom or area of supervision 3.
Must comply with rules governing confidentiality of information, written and observed.
CONTACTS: Has contact with students, school staff, parents, community, Board members, and intermediate district personnel.
QUALIFICATIONS: 1.
Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate.
2.
Special endorsements may be required depending on grade, subject, or specialty area.
3.
Minimum three years teaching experience in grade area of position preferred.
4.
Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills are required.
5.
Must have patience, tolerance, and be able to work as a team member.
6.
Demonstrates good communication skills with parents and professionalism in a variety of situations.
7.
Prefer experience in implementation and assessment of Common Core State Standards.
8.
Must complete and pass a criminal history background check according to applicable laws and school board policies.
9.
Must comply with all rules and regulations pertaining to safety.
10.
Must be able to speak English (speak, read, write, and comprehend).

Other than the superintendent, under the direction of the JKL Board of Directors, no supervisor, manager, or other person, irrespective of title or position, has authority to alter the at-will status of your employment or to enter into any employment contract for a definite period of time with you.
Any agreement with you altering your at-will employment status must be in writing and signed by the school superintendent.
