*West Midland Family Center* *Distribution Center Assistant* *I.
Job Summary* · Reports to WMFC Distribution Center Supervisor.
· Responsible for receiving, storing, distributing, and delivering of food and other goods to WMFC, partner agencies and community members.
· Deliver received items from various outside agencies/donors.
· Notifies WMFC Distribution Supervisor of any unusual circumstances or discrepancies.
· Records accurate weight/inventory information for reporting purposes.
· Operates vehicles, including box truck, as required for day-to-day delivery and operational needs.
· Assists in distributing items to patrons.
· Performs other duties as assigned.
* This is not a remote position.
*II.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities* · Coordinate all aspects of the WMFC Distribution Programs · Perform administrative tasks and general office duties which may include updating documents, data entry, photocopying, filing and other light clerical work.
· Assist WMFC Program Director with all mobile food panty distributions.
· Interact with volunteers, patrons, coworkers, and store managers in a professional manner.
· Drive the WMFC Box Truck as needed.
Comply with all traffic signs and laws.
· Follow instructions.
Know how to locate, read location maps and road maps.
· Pre-inspect vehicles.
· Pick up goods and materials.
Verify loads for accuracy and reporting, and deliver as instructed.
· Load and unload box truck with pallet jacks.
Secure cargo and properly arrange and balance pallets within vehicle.
· Responsible for basic vehicle maintenance (fueling, cleaning, etc.
).
· Comply with all safe work practices, policies, procedures and processes at all times.
· Complete and verify all paperwork for accuracy.
· Demonstrate safe use of manual/electrical pallet jacks and other such equipment.
· All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience* · Integrity to honestly follow and enforce WMFC Safety Policies and Procedures without prejudice.
· Strong communication and leadership skills; ability to effectively explain processes, instruct in multiple steps to reach completion, ability to give direction and support effectively to volunteers and staff.
· Strong customer/client relations skills for providing support, guidance, encouragement, conflict management and problem solving with clients, volunteers and staff · Able to take/ give directions well.
· Work flexible hours and shifts as needed including nights and occasional weekends.
· Dependability.
· Ability to work independently.
· Strong organizational skills.
· Basic computer skills (Word processing, spread sheets, data base, email and internet experience).
· Excellent public relations and customer service skills.
· Ability to manage and organize work plan.
· Ability to perform as an effective team leader and member.
· Excellent history of attendance and promptness.
· Manage distributions, regardless of weather.
· Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with participants, volunteers and other employees.
· Basic math competencies.
· Ability to multitask and work under pressure.
· Ability to stand for long periods of time.
· Ability to keep up in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
* Experience with distribution centers, driving box trucks and large vehicles, forklift operation are all a plus.
*IV.
Education, Training, Certification Recommendations* · High School graduate or GED preferred.
· Experience or training in distribution preferred.
· Basic computer skills.
· Clean driving record.
· Valid Michigan Chauffer License with valid Medical DOT card (within 3 months of hire date).
· First Aid and CPR certified (within 3 months of hire date).
· Forklift experience preferred.

Salary and Benefits* · Salary commensurate with experience and part-time/full-time status · Benefits available and vary based on part-time or full-time status *VI.
Working Conditions (Including physical demands)* · Communicate and exchange detailed information in a variety of ways including in person and on the telephone, on the phone and Zoom/virtual.
· Reviewing and assessing a variety of written materials and perform assigned duties.
· Remain in stationary positions for extended periods of time.
· Constantly operates equipment such as a computer, office productivity machinery and safety equipment.
· Ascend/descend stairs and occasionally ladders.
Get in and out of trucks and trailers.
· Must be able to lift and move 80 pounds repeatedly throughout the day.
· This position requires regular walking for extended periods of time, standing, bending, kneeling, pushing, pulling, twisting, sitting, stooping and balancing.
· Use hands to feel, grasp, carry and handle items; reach with hands and arms above and below shoulder level weighing up to 80 pounds.
· While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, speak, and hear.
Specific vision abilities include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and distance vision.
· Ability to manipulate carts and pallet jacks, ability to move up and down step ladders and lift gates.

Working Environment* · Office, recreation and school site environment.
· Outdoors and indoors.
Requires working indoors in temperature controlled as well as outdoors in varied environmental and weather conditions.
· Seasonal heat and cold or adverse weather conditions.
· Contact with dissatisfied or angry individuals.
· Driving a vehicle to conduct work.
The employee is required to transport themselves and cargo in a box truck or other vehicle.
