TITLE: School Counselor
REPORTS TO: Building Principal
JOB FUNCTION: Promote the educational growth of all children in the school setting by assisting students to develop skills that enhance learning, social, and emotional, well-being.
DISTRICT DESCRIPTION: The District has approximately 800 students and is located in north central Michigan.
Currently, 17% of our students qualify for special education services and about 2/3 of our students qualify for free and reduced lunch.
Roscommon Elementary School serves early childhood preschool students aged 3 -5 years old and students in kindergarten through third grade.
Roscommon Middle School has students in grades 4 through 7.
Roscommon High School has students in 8 th through 12 th grades.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide direct and consultative services to teachers, administrators, parents, and students.
Services may include individual/small group, family, classroom or building-wide behavioral supports, as well as individual therapeutic supports and systems-level consultation.
Develop and maintain strong ties with state and local social service agencies.
Ability to identify and incorporate strategic and intensive interventions as dictated by individual student data.
Ability to work as a contributing member of a professional learning community
Ability to collect and analyze formative and summative assessment data
Ability to make accommodations and work with special needs students in an inclusion setting
Evidence of a personal professional development plan
Willingness to attend summer professional development training
Experience working in a middle school setting preferred
Additional Qualifications:
We are seeking a turnaround teacher who is committed to leading the systemic reconfiguration of the district at the classroom level while sustaining the organization’s sense of urgency in realizing dramatic improvement in student and teacher performance in a short amount of time.

the ability to seek out knowledgeable peers, coaches, or administrators for instructional support in the never-ending quest to deliver the vision of high-quality subject-specific instruction in every class period every day.
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
Master’s Degree or higher in School Counseling
Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate is preferred.
Valid state licensing.

Previous classroom teaching experience
