QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree and five or more years of successful teaching experience required
Additional training in best practice reading and math instruction and intervention strategies and supports preferred.
Valid Michigan Elementary Teaching Certificate
Possess strong, positive leadership, interpersonal and communication skills
Experience with utilizing data for progress monitoring and decision making
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education deems appropriate and acceptable.
SUPERVISOR: Ottawa Elementary Principal
PRIMARY FUNCTION: To work directly with identified students to provide intervention in the areas of reading and math.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES (other duties may be assigned):
Maintains appropriate professional decorum and norms with utmost confidentiality concerning students and families.
Abides by the teacher ethics code listed on the Michigan Teaching Certificate.
Works cooperatively and collaboratively with building staff to create intervention schedules.
Assists in the collection of data, its analysis and its use to inform instructional decisions to improve student achievement.
Employs data conferencing with individual teachers/administrators and teams of teachers.
Works directly with identified students, K-5, using a 60/40 push in/pull out model.
Supports training for district aides in reading and math best practice instructional strategies.
Provides leadership and assists in the coordination of programs/services such as; Title I family learning nights.
Collaborates with instructional coaches for consistency of practice.
Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive classroom environment while respecting individual student needs.
Complies with all school district policies, rules, and response to crisis situations approved by the Board of Education.
Attends staff meetings and serves on building and district committees (as requested).
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
School year as defined in the written agreement between the Petoskey Board of Education and the Petoskey Education Association

Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the policy of the Board of Education and the Master Agreement between the Petoskey Board of Education and the Petoskey Education Association.
