Job Description Open to the Public Posting:2/23/24-OUF 1st Shift Monday-Friday 8 am-5 pm Wage:$17.
98 an hour exempt position Annual Salary $37,398.
40 Eligible Employer for Public Student Loan Forgiveness as a non-profit.
Position Summary: Under the supervision of the Dean of Students assumes responsibility for the integrity of financial aid, ensuring that policies are updated regularly and that internal controls are in place.
Maintain the daily operations of the Financial Aid office.
Provide administrative leadership of the colleges financial aid and scholarship programs which includes externally and internally funded loans, grants and scholarship programs for all undergraduate students.
Ensure compliance with all applicable federal and state regulations including recommendations and overseeing the implementation of necessary departmental and institutional policy changes.
This includes but not limited to leading the Financial Aid, managing all student financial aid programs, maintaining statistical data for federal, state and other financial aid appeals and special circumstances; developing and presenting financial aid workshops for current and prospective students.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Provide excellent customer and student service for all internal and external customers of the operations at all times.
Provide solutions for customer and student concerns and continually focus on customer and student services as our top priority.
Monitor and comply with state and federal regulations regarding student aid programs and direct budget development and packaging experience to meet enrollment and budget goals.
Develop and present financial aid workshops for current and prospective students.
Accept financial aid applications, forms; review for completeness, accuracy; verify information reported on student applications to determine eligibility for awards; screen applications; review student folders, transcripts, test scores, and process.
Maintain pertinent financial aid manuals and memoranda; manage the Financial Aid process and related computer technology, oversees the delivery, disbursement, and record keeping and communication of aid awards; and prepare institutional, state, and federal reports.
Participate in all financial aid meetings and events as assigned.
Work collaboratively with other departments including Admissions and Registrar and billing.
Maintain student confidentiality in accordance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and all other privacy regulations.
Must maintain strict confidentiality and present a positive, professional demeanor and image at all times.

Contacts/Purpose of Contacts: Contact with faculty and college staff on a daily basis.
Contact with college students.
Some external contact with associates of the college is required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of federal, State of Michigan and institutional financial aid program practices, laws, and compliance regulations.
Knowledge of Title IV financial aid programs funds management.
Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; ability to learn other computer applications as needed.
Skill in database management.
Skill in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policy, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures.
Skill in record keeping.
Ability to communicate efficiently and effectively both verbally and in writing.
Ability to work effectively with students and parents, and a commitment to financial aid counseling, student access, services and diversity.
Ability to make solid decisions and exercise independent judgment.
Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with the individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds.
Physical Demands: Frequently stands for periods of time.
Sit, walk, bend, stoop, and squat.
Frequent use of hands, wrists, fingers, associates with computer equipment.
Use hands for dexterity of motion, repetitive movement of both hands.
Have normal auditory, visual acuity, and verbal communications skills.
The employee must occasionally lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
Work Environment: In an academic institution environment, normal office and classroom environment with moderate noise level.
Tight time constraints and multiple demands are common.
Evening and/or weekend work may be required.
Extended hours and irregular shifts may be required.
Travel is required.
Job Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Student Services, Educational Administration, or related field.
One year work experience or certification in financial aid.
Strong financial management background, good technical skills and excellent analytical skills.
Strong organizational and managerial skills.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Must have a proficient command of the English language.
Must be able to pass background check to meet the employment eligibility requirements as they pertain to the position.
Desired Qualifications: Experience with EMPOWER, EDEXPRESS, EdConnect and other software.
License, Certification, or Special Requirements: Must have a valid State of Michigan Driver’s License with the proper designation required for the vehicle utilized to perform the job duties; must be able to obtain and maintain a Tribal Driver’s License and qualify for coverage by SCIT auto liability insurance carrier.
