_ *Culinary Arts Career-Technical Education Teachers can be hired based on experience in the field of culinary.
The district will assist them in securing a Career Authorization and the right person will have multiple years in which to earn his/her teaching credentials.
* ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: _Other duties may be assigned.
_ * Regular and predictable attendance * Provide and manage a competency-based and best practice focused instructional program in Cooking and Culinary-Related Arts for primarily 11th& 12thgrade students from Midland Counties as well as students from surrounding counties * Incorporate State content expectations in culinary courses * Instruction, planning, maintenance of facilities and equipment, budgeting, advisory, curricular and work-based referral functions * Demonstrate appropriate classroom management and maintain a positive climate for teaching and learning * Successfully meet CTC program standards, including state program reporting & compliance mandates * Organize and participate in youth leadership activities as it relates to the culinary field * Take an active role in District and school initiatives that further the Culinary programs, including professional learning activities * Use data to drive instruction, assess students and analyze needs and progress in order to adapt instructional intervention strategies to meet individual learning styles * Maintain confidentiality * Ability to work with all ability levels & categories of students * Work with post-secondary and placement coordinators to build seamless transitions for articulation and employment * Collaboratively develop and maintain a forward-thinking vision for the Culinary Program * Nomination and mentoring of students for scholarships, awards and other honors * Attendance and supervision of projects outside of school hours QUALIFICATIONS: * Must have experience in the industry allowing to gain credentials to meet minimum requirements for the State of Michigan Teacher’s Certification for secondary Culinary (or related field) program such as Interim Occupational Certificate, Credit Track Annual Authorization or Annual Career Authorization * Preferred Endorsement(s)- Cooking and Related-Culinary Arts * Experience with Cooking and Related-Culinary programs preferred * Ability and experience in designing and implementing competency-based instructional programs in Cooking, Culinary, Hospitality, Tourism and Related Arts * Recent, successful relevant work experience in Cooking, Culinary, Hospitality, Tourism and Related Arts preferred * A strong connection to local industry representatives and ability to network for program improvement and placement opportunities * Must be eligible to work in the United States * Strong communications background: technical writing, reading and speaking skills * Ability to maintain composure under stressful conditions * Ability to develop effective working relationships with students, staff and the school community * Knowledge of how academics are integrated into career and technical education * Must have essential technology skills to use personally and further student technology skills TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: Compensation, length of the work day and number of work days is based on the CEA collective bargaining agreement.
