Northern Blooms Montessori is seeking Assistant Teachers who are passionate about the Montessori method and its benefits for children while being part of a supportive community network.
You are a self-starter willing to take on the wide-ranging aspects of a small school.
You will be part of a pioneer team to build an authentic Montessori program that meets the needs of our local community.
This will give you the opportunity to grow yourself and the school.
The Assistant Teacher works hand in hand with the classroom’s Lead Guide in preparing and maintaining a work environment consistent with the Montessori method of learning and teaching.
The role of the Assistant Teacher includes assisting the Lead Guide with managing a classroom of approximately 8 students, supporting students’ independent work, and supervising students in the indoor and outdoor environments.
*The ideal candidate:* * Has a background in education and is passionate about working with young children * Is able to ensure the physical and emotional safety and well-being of the students * Is a team player who is willing to take direction from the Lead Guide * Is organized, flexible, efficient, creative, comfortable with technology, and a problem-solver * You are an effective facilitator of children's learning, and extend the values of Montessori to the families within your school community.
* Is able to model integrity, curiosity, and respect * Is an excellent communicator, interacting with children, families, and coworkers in a warm, compassionate, empathetic, and confident manner *Key Responsibilities:* * Work with children in a loving and nurturing way, encouraging the social, cognitive and emotional growth of the children.
* Collaborate with a Lead Guide to develop an authentic Montessori class serving the diversity of our local community, as part of a micro-school.
* Follow the Montessori curriculum and implement lesson plans from the Lead Guide * Ensure a healthy classroom environment - including maintaining appropriate hygiene and cleanliness standards and safety and security of children.
Will include diapering in the toddler classroom.
* Ensure all center policies and state regulations are maintained and met.
* Ensure you are following planned activities, hygiene and safety standards.
* Be part of professional development meetings and school events as a representative of the school community *Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Required* * Be at least 18 years of age * Must have a thorough understanding of Montessori philosophy and child development.
(willing to train the right individual) * Preferred 1-3 years of experience assisting in a Montessori classroom.
* Highschool Diploma or GED required.
* Strong oral and written communication skills * The ability to work well with others (staff, children, and parents, and board) and to foster a team environment.
* Infant/child/adult CPR and First Aid certification, or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire.
* The ability to take frequent walks, use hands and fingers, handle objects, tools or controls.
* Must be able to kneel, bend, squat and sit on the floor for extended periods of time * Must clear background check, tuberculosis test, and complete any training required for licensing.
*Compensation, Benefits, and Application Process* * The successful candidate will report to Executive Program Director * This is an exempt full-time position with a competitive salary commensurate with background and experience.
