Zamboni Driver/Rink Attendant

The Zamboni Driver/Rink Attendant is responsible for the safe operation of the Ice Arena facility Zamboni with additional responsibilities of custodial duties ensuring that the Ice Arena facility is immaculate and well groomed.
Our Zamboni Driver/Rink Attendant is responsible for performing their duties in a conscientious, professional manner, maintaining both the ice surface and rink to ensure that all aspects of the facility are safe and enjoyable for all users.
Additional responsibilities include a variety of routine ice rink operations.
Most events at Martin Ice Arena take place in the afternoons and evenings M-F and all day Sat & Sun (day/evening/night).

*Job Duties:* * Must be able to operate and maintain the ice-resurfacer, ice edger, and other ice-related equipment successfully and complete daily maintenance of all equipment at the start of shift; take care of problems/emergency repairs as needed.
* Must be able to maintain the ice in a manner that provides a level, smooth, safe, and a high quality of ice in accordance with facility standards as set forth by the Operations & Facilities Superintendents.
* Must attend to the rink at all times, monitoring for cleanliness and picking up trash and debris as needed throughout your shift, ensuring that the rink is it is kept clean before, during, and after events.
* Must perform routine hourly checks on the locker rooms and keep in a state of cleanliness.
* Must be able to set up, put away, and maintain facility/program equipment.
* Must be able to follow all Ice Arena and OSHA safety guidelines.
* Must be able to exercise the highest level of care in using chemicals or hazardous materials; follow guidelines and precautions on MSD sheets.
* Must be able to ensure that facility cleanliness standards are implemented.
* Must be able to read and understand operating procedures as well as written directives.
* Must be able to write information required for co-workers or supervisors to review later.
* Must be able to welcome and respond to calls, questions, concerns and feedback.
* Must attend required staff meetings, training and seminars; maintain required certifications.
* Must be able to ensure the safety of patrons and take appropriate steps in emergency situations and respond to direction from supervisory staff.
* Must have exceptional teamwork and self-motivation/take the initiative attitude.
* Must be able to work efficiently, compassionately and with empathy for those people who have special needs and requirements due to age or other cognitive or physical disability.
* Must not have been convicted of any crime related to theft, embezzlement, robbery, assault, sexual crime of any nature; or any crime against a child.
* Must be able to conform to a dress code and appearance policy.
* Must be able to maintain the confidentiality of any and all information obtained from guests as part of registration; information overheard from guests, or any other verbal, nonverbal, or visual information concerning the physical or emotional condition of any guest, or property of a guest at the Ice Arena.
*Qualifications:* * Driver's license * Experience with heavy machinery * Exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
* Ability to work flexible schedules – including nights, weekends, and days around holidays.
* Basic knowledge of ice sports, including hockey and figure skating preferred, but not necessary.
*Physical Requirements:* * Driving, maintaining a large, heavy machine.
* Slippery surface and varying environments, including cold temperatures.
* Physical activity required for cleaning, including reaching, bending to clean multi-surface areas, and being on your feet.
*All Martin Ice Arena Team Members, regardless of position, will be expected to provide an outstanding customer experience for every customer.
All Team Members are responsible for duties related to their specific department, and also ongoing housekeeping duties throughout the facility.
They will ensure all areas of the facility are kept clean and safe, including the removal of trash, cleaning of tables, windows, bathrooms, lobby, sweeping/mopping facility floors and putting items away in their proper place.
Team Members will also perform other duties/projects as assigned.
