Summary: The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to; ensuring the safe transportation of patients to and from the diagnostic imaging department.
Other functions that may be assigned.
Responsibilities: (30%)* Safely transports all patients to and from ED, inpatient and outpatient units.
Safely operate wheelchairs, stretchers, IV poles and other support equipment.
Utilizes seat belts or other restraint devices.
Proper body mechanics used at all times.
Assure patient safety and comfort.
Bring patient documentation needed for exam.
This may include consent forms, history questionnaires, etc.
Acquire a patient Hall Pass for every patient transport.
(30%)* Works as dispatcher and prioritizes runs based on patient needs.
Utilizes good communication skills.
(20%)* Assist departments when needed.
Answering/making phone calls when department is busy or short handed Retrieves and replenishes supplies as requested.
(20%)* Assists with holds or lifting patients as needed.
Holds difficult patients.
Lifts weak or disabled patients.
Utilizes appropriate lift equipment on a routine basis.
Utilizes appropriate protective lead garments when appropriate.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Provides excellent customer service Demonstrates professionalism and courtesy at all times toward all employees, physicians, associated staff,MyMichigan Health customers and potential customers.
Cooperates with other personnel to achieve departmental and hospital goals; attends/participates in departmental and hospital meetings.
Demonstrates competency in Infection Prevention and Control Practices and Policies.
Possesses an understanding of infection prevention and control measures designed to prevent the spread of infectious diseases.
Maintains the standards of the infection prevention and control policies.
Implements and maintains isolation techniques per policy.
Follows hand hygiene policies and utilizes personal protective equipment as required.
Follows established safety procedures: patient identification, safe transfers, prepares and maintains O2, follows universal precautions, assures transport devices are cleaned between each transport, maintains confidentiality and documents on medical record.
Ability to recognize and report malfunction of equipment appropriately.
Other duties as assigned.
