EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
Associates Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related area and 2 years of experience in related field.
OR
4 years of experience in related field.
SUMMARY
Staff Accountant will be responsible for maintaining financial procedures and conforming to financial compliance to GAAP through preparation of reports and reconciliations of General Ledger accounts.
Responsibilities include the updating of company records on a timely basis with details of income and itemized expenses to reflect the most accurate information.
All drivers must possess a valid Michigan driver's license and be insurable by the tribe's insurance company.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Reconciles specific general ledger accounts on a daily/monthly basis
Records and reconciles all the casino log information that is recorded on a daily basis
Investigates Credit Card Chargebacks and respond by deadline to Merchant Processor.
Issue invoices to internal / external parties for events held on property.
Issue monthly statement for Intercompany transactions which reflects charges and payments received.
Reconcile monthly all assigned Accounts Receivable not related to events.
Prepare and transmit weekly check deposits.
Cooperates and assists with internal/external audit.
Complies with all Tribal, State, and Federal Gaming Agencies and their rules and regulations
Adheres to regulatory, departmental, and company policies in an ethical manner
Maintains knowledge of all regulatory compliance policies, procedures, and regulations
Maintain strict security and confidence of all records and reports of the Accounting Department.

OTHER NECESSARY SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Attention to detail and accuracy is essential as well as the ability to handle multiple tasks.
Must be able to work independently and have excellent organizational skills.
Must possess good communication skills both verbal and written.
Must have computer experience and a good working knowledge with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
Must maintain a good working relationship between accounting and other enterprise departments and external agencies.

Must have a valid, driver's license and be insurable by the Tribe's insurance carrier.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Work performed is in both a smoking and non-smoking environment and in multiple locations.
Position will require evenings, weekends and holidays.
May be required to work over 40 hours per week.

Must be able to pass a background investigation, drug, and alcohol testing as a condition of employment.
